My best friend has
owned a two wheeled vehicle for exactly 6days. It was time
to head across the mighty Sierra Nevadas to learn about Long Distance Riding.
Hey!!, that
bike has no pedals!! Yep, It's called a STRIDER
and the concept is golden, kids that start on these as toddlers go straight
to bikes --WITHOUT TRAINING WHEELS! It's a great concept and in just
6days we've seen Grace really improve her balance.
Any day on two wheels
is a good day!!
Ten Thumbs-Up, this
was a great contribution to the moto-bike community.
The above slide:
"
Why Ride Long Distances?" Was a great reminder to me of how
much I have learned in the last few years as I've dabbled in LD riding.
It certainly has complimented my true passion of recreational moto-bike
riding.
Uhhh, "Standing
Room Only" would be an understatement. Most folks had to stand
-even after they brought more chairs. And then folks overspilled
well outside the room where the presentation was being done.
There was great interest in this presentation and it drew a lot of folks.
Certainly over 100people. Above picture: Aprox 20people stand
and watch from outside the presentation room.
It's hard to see
the slide in these pictures, but this slide was on Aux Fuel and was of
great interest to everyone. Above Tom explains some of the basic
and common ways to transfer fuel.
My best friend has
no need for aux fuel, she's GO GO GO enough already.
Slide says:
Heat
Balance in 80F Calm Air (Required Evaporation < 1oz /hour)
The overview on
the impact of heat was beyond fascinating. This was a great
topic that was done well.
Future LD riders?
Perhaps, perhaps not, -but either way they learned some valuable stuff
that will translate into more fun on their bikes.
Slide: "My
Packing List" Trust me when I tell you that this list was
beyond belief and of great fun and interest to all. Color coded
-to illustrate some things that weren't learned on the "first" ride.
My best friend wasn't
the only person rolling their eyes at that list. ;-)
Problem is, it all made sense!
Those Bavarian bikes
are OK, but my best friend and I both have a weekness for Ducati -so we
went to take a look. The ride (next door) to the Ducati store didn't
seem far at all -perhaps because of all the LD riding tips we had just
learned.
Ooops, a little
crash. The first one -but smiling and back in the saddle almost instantly.
World's Toughest Riders ain't just words when you're living the LD life.
Tom was very nice
to Grace, and that is golden.
But just how nice????
....
...
..
Grace somehow earned
the top Door Prize!! A sealed copy of Dean Tanji's "Hard
Miles 2"
I'm pretty sure
the thing was rigged, I think there must have been points for having a
certain last name.
Above Grace poses
with her prize while getting the feel for her favorite Ducati. She
wore that bike very well and there may have to be another account set up
in addition to the college fund.
A real affection
for two-wheeled machines and proud of her prize, Everyone loves to get
new things, especially two year olds.
Mario W -Owner/Founder
of LD comfort. ---Mario did a very fun presentation on what
he knows best ....the presentation was sooo entertaining that you'd often
forget he was talking about undergarments. Here Mario
and my best friend trade stories and show off the door prize.
Tom rides one of
those Bavarian machines. A real fancy and a very pretty one.
I meant to ask him if they make that model in boy's colors too? or just
girl's colors??
Over the mighty Sierra
Nevadas and back in our Battle Born State Of Nevada.......
We stop by the hospital
to visit mom at work and tell her of our great day .....
Such a great girl
today (as she is every day) ... I told my best friend that I'd take
her to dinner at the restaurant of her choosing, -wherever she wanted!!
Her reply:
" I want to go home
and have spaghetti with dad, "and watch my new movie"
It is no wonder
why we're best friends.
